News page! What news page?

Ok, clearly this news page is not exactly timely. For updates on what I’m up to check out MeMyselfandHim.com. It’s my blog connected to the FictionDepersonalizationSyndrome (FDS) project, and just about all the entries will be related to FDS, but from time I’ll post newsy items (though, they’ll likely be related to FDS, such as conferences I’m speaking at, etc.).

You can also check out my Facebook fan page. Alas, I don’t update that as regularly as I should, but there are new posts there once in a while.

What can I say - I’d rather spend my time doing stuff than writing about stuff I’m doing.

I’ve been invited to present FDS at the Junge Philosophie Conference in Darmstadt, Germany next month. This is a prestigious philosophy conference, and I’m very excited that my theory is 1) making it’s way to Europe, and 2) that philosophers see it as relevant to their field. Plus, I’ve never been to Germany so it should be a great trip.

I’ve been selected to present Fiction Depersonalization Syndrome, my theory first introduced in Swimming Inside the Sun, at the Media Ecology Association’s annual convention in June. I’ll be flying up to the University of Maine to present FDS to communications and media scholars from around the world! I’m extremely honored, and excited. Visit the site of FDS for more details.

Swimming Inside the Sun has been nominated for the Mary Shelley Award for Outstanding Fictional Work by the Media Ecology Association! I’ve been an (unofficial) student of media ecology for many years and I’m honored to be nominated for this award. Very exciting!

Very sad news. One of my musical heroes killed himself yesterday. Very sad.
